Odile was born on the tropical island of Curacao, in the South of the Caribbean. Curacao is one of four countries in the Kingdom of The Netherlands. Her father is a sailing Olympian and her mother an equestrian European Vice-Champion. She has 2 big brothers and a sister guiding her way.
Odile lived right at the waterfront and started sailing before she could walk. When she was 6 she started enjoying the sailing classes at Youth Sailing Curacao (YSCO).
From there it went fast. In the Optimist she won Gold at the Girls South Americans, Overall North Americans and Girls under 13 at the World Championship. At the 2014 Youth Olympics in China, she was Flagbearer for The Netherlands and won a Silver Medal. Now she is sailing in the Olympic 49er FX class and finished 6th and 10th in the 2018 and 2019 Worlds and won Gold at last year’s World Cup in Genua.
