Emma grew up in Delft and learned sailing in the Optimist at the Braassemermeer. Both her parents were into windsurfing and passed on their passion for watersport to their children. Her brothers are accomplished sailors in the Waszp and Laser.
After the Optimist Emma started sailing the Laser 4.7. She would go on to win her first World Championship medal at age 15 followed by the World Title in 2016. She would continue this success by representing the Netherlands at the ISAF Youth Worlds 2018 and winning a Silver Medal.
Emma is currently studying Biological and Forensic sciences in the United Kingdom, while still training for the upcoming Laser Youth Europeans and recently jumping into the Waszp. She is really enjoying the foiling on the Waszp and was keen to bring her foiling skills to a higher level with the Youth Americas Cup.
